Unfortunately, not enough people consider the smoking dangers of tobacco cigarettes before they take up this harmful habit. And, naturally once you are addicted to regular cigarettes, smoking dangers are the last thing on your mind. Smokers simply want to enjoy their smoking without the burden of worrying about smoking dangers every time they light up.
However, smoking dangers are so incredibly prevalent and well-researched that the data is hard to ignore. From increased risk of cancer, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), emphysema and a number of other illnesses, to the more mundane smoking dangers like an annoying, hacking cough, smoking dangers affect both smokers and those around them.
All too often smokers don’t realize the increased risk of illness and death that they impose on non-smokers that come in contact with the smoke from their tobacco cigarettes. Whether smokers are lighting up in front of a grocery store or mall, or going out for a smoke break at work, it is very likely that other people, including children, will be in the area and come in contact with their smoke. Second hand smoking dangers are just as harmful as the smoking dangers for the folks who are actually smoking.
Increased education and awareness regarding second hand smoking dangers is needed in order to assist smokers in understanding that they are putting non-smokers at risk. At the very least, smokers should be more considerate of non-smokers who have chosen to avoid smoking dangers by maintaining a smoke-free life. Of course, folks who smoke tobacco cigarettes should also take steps towards smoking cessation in order to avoid smoking dangers that will surely affect them in the future, if they aren’t already.
Smoking cessation is not always easy, but it is the healthiest option for both smokers and non-smokers who cannot avoid the smoke from folks smoking tobacco cigarettes around them.
